FOR PARENTS

The Clean and Seal Dental Program provides preventative oral health services from dental professionals to children in K-12 at no cost to parents, children, or schools. MassHealth may be billed.

Benefits and treatments for our patients include:

Dental Screening: a visual and manual inspection of the mouth that helps identify oral disease or other conditions that may require management by oral health professionals.
Oral Health Education: brushing and flossing benefits and instruction.
Dental Prophylaxis: a thorough cleaning procedure performed 2x per year that halts the progression of periodontal disease and gingivitis.
Fluoride Varnish: a dental treatment that helps prevent tooth decay, slow it down, or stop it from progressing. Watch a helpful Fluoride Varnish video here »
Dental Sealants: thin coatings that when painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars) can prevent cavities (tooth decay) for many years. Watch a helpful Dental Sealant video here »
* If a sealant placed by the Clean and Seal Dental Program in K-12 is lost it will be replaced the following year at no cost.
Referral to a local dental office accepting MassHealth.

How can my child participate in the Clean and Seal dental Program?

Consent forms and a letter to parents are provided by the school nurse and/or teachers.
Parents/guardians need to complete the entire consent form, including all child health questions and contact information.
Consent forms should be signed and returned the next day whether the response is “YES” or “NO”.
Only children with a completed form marked “YES” and signed by a parent or guardian will be seen.
Returning a “NO” consent form lets us know that the parent has had the opportunity to review the option to participate in this free program.
We follow federal laws (HIPAA and FERPA) to keep information private.
